OUR HISTORY

It all started when Meadow Hills Baptist Church set out to start Grace Baptist Church on 11/26/1961. They began the services meeting in Mrs. Shields home until land could be purchased and the church could be built on Pulaski Pike. The church remained until it was sold. Grace Baptist Church members continued to meet at the parsonage on Laverne Street in Huntsville and well as Hurricane Chapel Baptist Church. In 2020, COVID hit but Grace Baptist Church continued to meet in parking lots. Grace Baptist Church purchased their current location (previously Rice Baptist Church) later in 2020.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Grace Baptist Church is a Baptist church in the historical and doctrinal sense of the word.  We believe it to be the same kind of church that Jesus organized during his earthly ministry (before Pentecost) and that it is given the same commission. (Matt 16:18; 28:19-20; Luke 6:12-16; Eph.2:19-22)

We believe there is one, and only one living and true God, an infinite, intelligent spirit, whose name is JEHOVAH, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth.  We believe that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who are equal in every divine perfection and execute distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Jer. 10:10; Psalm 83:18; 147:5; John 4:24; Rom. 1:20; Heb 3:4; Matt. 28:19; John 10:30; II Cor. 13:14; Heb. 9:14)

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God without error in the original and that the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking world of today. Furthermore, the preaching/teaching of the Bible shall be the focal point of our regular services. (II Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe man was created by and in the image of God; but by voluntary transgression fell from that holy state.  As a result, we believe that man is totally depraved and that every part of the human being is affected by his sin nature. (Gen 1:27; 3:6-24; Jer 17:9; Eph 2:1-9; Rom 3:23)

We believe that before the foundation of the world God chose some to be Holy and without blame before him according to his foreknowledge and predestinated them unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ. (Eph. 1-4-5; II Thess. 2:13; Rom. 8:28-31)

We believe that Jesus Christ in his death on the cross satisfactorily atoned for the sins of all who will repent of their sins toward God and believe on the finished work of Jesus Christ as their only salvation. (John 3:16-19; 10:15; 14:6; Rom. 5:8; Heb. 2:9)

We believe in the unconditional, irresistible Grace of God manifesting itself by repentance and faith, both of these being inseparable graces worked by the drawing power of the Father and the preaching of the Gospel. (John 6:29, 37-45; Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 1:16-17; 2:4; I Cor. 1:18-25; II Cor. 7:10)

We believe in the eternal preservation of all who repent of their sins and believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ (John 10:27-29; Rom. 8:35-39; I Peter 1:3-5)

We believe that after one is saved, they should be baptized by immersion in water upon the authority of a scriptural church.  We do not cooperate with unscriptural churches in the granting and receiving of letters nor do we take part in ecumenical services. (Acts 2:41; 18:8; I Cor. 12:13; Matt 3:16; 28:19-20; Mark 1:10; II Cor. 6:14-18)

We believe the Lord’s Supper is restricted to members of good standing in each local church, being a local church ordinance and that the elements are the fruit of the vine and unleavened bread. (Luke 22:7-20; I Cor. 11:23-34)

We believe the way to finance the Lord’s work is by tithes and offerings.  We believe all churches should be missionary and that they can give their mission money where they choose.  We do not believe mission money should be used to support unsound missionaries, unsound colleges, or unsound seminaries. (Mal 3:10; I Cor. 16:2; Mark 6:7-12; Luke 9:1-6; Acts 1:8)

We believe that the ordaining of preachers and deacons is to be done by the local church.  We also believe that these offices are to be filled by men only, that they should be the husbands of one wife, and women are to not usurp authority over the men in the public worship service. (Eph.4:11-12; I Tim.3:1-13; I Cor.14:34; I Tim.2:11-15)

We believe in the pre-tribulation rapture and pre-millennial Second Coming of Christ.  We believe that heaven and hell are real places, that Satan is a real person and that there will be two resurrections one for the just unto life everlasting and one for the unjust unto everlasting damnation. (I Thess. 4:13-18; I Cor. 15:51-57; Rev. 20:11-15)

We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage.  We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. We believe that God disapproves of and forbids any attempt to alter one’s gender by surgery or appearance.  (Gen. 2:24; Gen. 19:5, 13; Gen. 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1: 26-29; 1 Cor. 5:1; 6:9; 1 Thess. 4:1-8; Heb. 13:4)

We believe that the only Scriptural marriage is the joining of one naturally-born man and one naturally-born woman.  (Gen. 2:24; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 7:10; Eph. 5:22-23)

But by the grace of God, I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

1 Corinthians 15:10
